SpreadSports started as an online message and initiative to drive the support for sports in India. As hundreds and thousands of athletes continue to pursue their passion without credible facilities, infrastructure and earnings, and the concerning future generations sway away from sports and outdoors to increasingly stay indoors on their smartphones and tablets; join in the movement to SpreadSports in India.
At the root of it, there already exists a dearth of parks, playgrounds, recreational and proffesional planning in the country. These enviromentally and physically paramount open spaces shape the very soul of our existence. As our population grows, and space subsequently shrinks, we further run the risk of losing out on these bare necessities.
Every child reserves and deserves the right to play. So does every future generation. Other than relying entirely on our government, we need like-minded, self-realising people to step up and pitch in. If it is going to be a year of bold new resolutions on our part, let sports education and youth development be one of them.
To date, only a handful of constituents and cities in India have recognised the importance of initiating and inserting a framework for sports and outdoors. It’s no a bone of contention that we need these breathing spaces peppered throughout the country — and the world. Our most basic standard of living needs it, demands it. Childhoods depend upon it. All you need to do is set an eye through the looking glass at places who have done it, and done it well. All of this, before urban development takes over and we soon run out of all-important space. Of course, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that sports and recreational planning is missing at the grassroots level in India.
